Windows 11 note and NVIDIA GEFORCE Experience driver

If you have recently been upgraded to Windows 11 from 10 you may notice when you pull up Houdini that your geometry does not appear in the viewport. After updating my drivers and ensuring all update to windows were complete I could render but not see my geo in viewport. Upgrading to the NVIDIA GEFORCE Experience driver resolved the issue and had the added bonus of allowing me to use Karma xpu.

You can also type GeForce Experience from your window search window. Follow the instructions (it will require you to create an account with your birthdate! (really?) and download the studio driver.

In addition, if you run into the problem of geometry disappearing in Houdini in Windows 10 and up, ensure that you are on Studio and not Game Ready.

Where to find it?

In your search bar type in geforce experience - this will bring up the app - even though I had mine installed, it immediately installed updates - once that is done it is just like discord or slack app, you can launch it.

Once launched, you can see in the app there is a DRIVERS tab - click on that tab and that will reveal the dialog box with a choice of studio or game ready - select Studio Driver
