Shogun Introduction

Currently at the Studio in SCAD-SAV, we are using a passive optical system with 16 Vicon VERO series cameras! Installed, June 5/6, 2018 and Vicon Shogun 1.1. (Thanks to Julie Henninger and Galina Pak for agreeing to be our actors during installation!).

Shogun is split into two apps:

Both are associated with Eclipse which is the data management software (accessed in app from Post or stand alone).

You can stream from either into Unity, Unreal or Motionbuilder! Post is very similar to blade, so I will refer to the previous documentation until I have a chance to fully update these pages.

The biggest change for us is no more waiting for processing rom - it's LIVE! No loud fan! No lights out!
There is now an mcp (motion capture) file.

Calibration is the same, except now we are using an active wand (it lights up!) and you should expect around .2 or below.

Note that you can clean data in Shogun post, Motion Builder and Maya - select the technique you prefer. You are highly encouraged to use Shogun Post for cleaning up and fixing minor errors (re-targeting is best done in motion builder).

For our student environment, we will take advantage of eclipse, the database manager that was used in Blade, also available in Shogun.

Streaming works with Motion Builder 2018 and has been fulled tested.

My documentation archived:

Vicon Blade 3.1 / 3.3.1

Shogun now has documentation online as well as a youtube channel with educational videos.
